HOW TO MAKE A SLIDING KNOT
A sliding knot, also referred to as an adjustable or barrel knot, is a versatile and practical knot used to create a fastening that can be easily adjusted by pulling on the cords, making it an ideal choice for adjustable necklaces and bracelets.
This knot is formed by wrapping one cord around another multiple times, creating loops, and then passing the end of the wrapping cord back through these loops, allowing the knot to be slid along the other cord to change the length of the jewelry piece.
Sliding knots can be made with various types of cords, including waxed cotton cord, leather cord, waxed polyester cord, nylon cord, suede cord, or elastic cord, providing a clean and hardware-free closure for jewelry.
The adjustability of sliding knots makes them perfect for creating jewelry that can fit a variety of sizes, eliminating the need for metal clasps.
By learning how to tie a sliding knot, you can create adjustable bracelets and necklaces that are both stylish and functional.
This simple yet effective knot is a valuable technique to master for anyone interested in jewelry making.
